OUR WORK

Masterworks believes that engaging in significant work is part of God's good design for mankind. Therefore, we offer full-time employment, doing realk work in the real marketplace as a mainstay of our program. We currently operate three small enterprises:

1. ) Light assembly, manufacturing and packaging. We have done everything from assembling hard drives and plasma TV mounting brackets, to building parts kits for a large electrical equipment manufacturer, to packaging replacement parts for a large ATV manufacturer.

2. ) Auto maintenance, repair and detailing. We provide many services from oil changes to tune-ups, brake jobs and suspension. We also do auto detailing, and accept vehicle donations for repair and resale.

3. ) Construction. We have a small crew led by an experienced contractor who have already tackled a number of projects, including rehabbing two urban apartment buildings, and several extensive home remodeling projects.

Beyond being a place of employment, Masterworks is a ministry which differs from many other agencies working in the urban community.

We are unashamedly Christian. We are committed to praying with and for each of our workers; we read and discuss the Bible together every morning before work; we have honest, open discussions about life issues in the light of biblical truth as we work side-by-side. We believe that the greatest hope for lasting life changes is through a change in the heart.

We are committed to treating each person with the dignity of one created in the image of God. This means working with people individually according to to their unique needs. It is a very personal, intensive approach, rather than a rigidly programmatic method. It also means we work with a smaller group of men who stay on longer than is typical of most job-training programs, often 1-2 years. We strive to build a sense of community among the staff and participants, which is important for those seeking to overcome fractured and unhelpful past relationships and addictions.
