DONATE

Donate a vehicle

Masterworks needs vehicle donations to supplement the work in our auto shop, as well as help provide support for our other ministries. For more specific information on how to donate a vehicle, click here.

Make a financial donation

Masterworks relies on the financial donations of individuals and churches in order to offer our employees the help they need. Our desire is to provide pay incentives for progress in job skilss, health insurance benefits, special skill training for future employment, emergency assistance, counseling services, and incentives for saving. We also desire to use work-day hours for Bible study and skills training. Maintaining this vision requires us to have supplementary income beyond what we are able to earn on our job contracts. Your donations are vital to this ministry.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers Concerning Vehicle Donation

Q: What vehicles are you interested in?

A: We are interested in any vehicle, running or not running, that has at least some minimal real market value after repairs. That determination can be made over the phone with a few questions. Usually if a car is running, we'll take it. Some cars are simply ready to be towed to the junkyard. We can refer you to companies that can do this at no cost to you.

Q: What will you do with my vehicle?

A: In our training shop, we will thoroughly inspect your vehicle, perform any needed repairs and then sell the vehicle--offering it first, at reduced rate, to our program participants and others in the urban community who have a legitimate transportation need.

Q: What happend with the proceeds?

A: Any proceeds from the sale are used to help fund the ongoing ministry of Masterworks. We are providing jobs, job training and life-skills training in a supportive environment to those with significant barriers to mainstream employment opportunities--principally those with a criminal record or those emerging from struggles with chemical dependency.

Q: What can I deduct on my taxes?

A: Under new IRS regulations, effective in 2006, you can normally deduct only the amount that we actually see the vehicle for, less needed repairs, witha minimum of $500.00. If you want us to hold out for a maximum sale price, we can do that. We can, however, make no guarantee of the sale price. We appreciate it if you as the donor give us some flexibility in the selling price, as then we will pass that savings along to those in need, making the vehicle more affordable. But again, this will affect the amount that you can deduct on your taxes.

Q: What about insurance?

A: As soon as we have the vehicle in our lot, you can and should cancel your insurance.
